Being born Quirkless didn’t make Midoriya accept his fate as it was.
His determination to become a hero like his idol, All Might, came from the deepest part of his heart. In just ten months, he worked incredibly hard to prepare himself for the U.A. entrance exam, proving that becoming a hero was never just a dream to him.
Did his power help him get through it? No. Was luck part of how he got accepted into his dream school? Yes.
But did he give up after realizing that luck played a part in his success? No!
He continued to fight for his dream and pushed himself to become the greatest hero he could be.
So, how did he learn to become a great hero?
He studied other heroes and carefully analyzed their Quirks. He learned to think before acting, understand his strengths and weaknesses, and recognize his own limits.
And when his body could no longer keep up with the way he used his power, he adapted. When he could no longer rely on his arms because of the damage they had taken, he learned to fight with his legs and developed Shoot Style. Instead of giving up because his old way of fighting was no longer possible, he found a new way forward.
That is what makes Midoriya inspiring. He doesn’t always have the perfect answer, and he doesn’t always have the strongest body. But when something doesn’t work anymore, he learns, adapts, and keeps moving.
Sometimes, he knows exactly how far he can go, but his kindness and selflessness push him beyond those limits.
His courage and empathy become just as important as his power.
And then there is the meaning behind his name.
From “Deku”, a name meant to mock him as someone who could do nothing, to “Deku”, a name he chooses to carry as a symbol of determination and fighting for greatness.
Midoriya teaches us that having abilities is not enough. What truly matters is how we choose to use them, how we take responsibility for them, and how we continue to persevere in our own way.
From zero to hero.
Midoriya taught us that our starting point doesn’t define how far we can go.
